Ellie Goulding - Your Song (Blackmill Dubstep Remix)

Two posts today. You'll want a good pair of headphones for this one. This guy, Blackmill, describes his dubstep as "melodic." I have listened through most of his stuff and really like it. He adds direction and defined melodies to most of his songs which I think really adds to the heavy bass sounds. Anyways... Enjoy :D

[the song Ellie covers is a cover from Elton John's "Your Song." the lyrics are below]

It's a little bit funny
this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money
but boy if i did
I'd buy a big house where
we both could live

So excuse me forgetting
but these things I do
see i've forgotten if
they're green or they're blue
anyway the thing is
what i really mean
yours are the sweetest eyes i've ever seen

And you can tell everybody,
this is your song
It may be quite simple but
now that is done
I hope you don't mind, i hope you don't mind
that i put down in words
how wonderful life is now your in the world

If i was a sculptor
but then again no
or girl who makes potions in a traveling show
I know it's not much but
it's the best i can do
My gift is my song and
this one's for you

And you can tell everybody
this is your song
It may be quite simple but
now that is done
I hope you dont mind, i hope you dont mind
that i put down in words
how wonderful life is now your in the world

BIG K.R.I.T. - Hometown Hero

It's kind of hard to believe this video has 1 million + hits. I remember when it had less than 20,000 k. Anyways. This is one of my favorite K.R.I.T. songs. Enjoy :D

[Intro:]
You know God made black beautiful. God made Boobie beautiful. Black and Strong, and when Boobie knocks some fools out, Boobie gonna knock 'em out with black Nikes on his feet. Ain't that right? And I'm a smile when I do. Yeah, yeah, I'm distinguished now. Hey Boobie? What? You didn't lift. Come on Man this is god given, only thing I gotta do is just show up.

[Verse 1:]
Yeah, yeah, yeah a Superhero in the flesh
Even at my worst I'm the best
For the finish I stretch.
When they advanced me this check
Could've bought my way to heaven, but I blow it on my neck.
Instead, what you expect when you ain't have shit,
And they ain't paying half of what you asking.
Couldn't see the pussy even if it's Cassie.
Alot hoes is down for taking pictures cause you're flashy.
You can't even imagine
Maybe Kim Kardashian.
Number one song, and a grammy, now I'm smashin.
Masserati crashin', swerving through the traffic
Wrap it round a pole, sell a mil off the tragedy.
I defy gravity
Flyer then I have to be
Talking to the Lord, I can't stay,
Who gone save hip-hop after me,
That's like a torn ACL to an Athlete,
Boobie Miles, Friday (Night) Lights,
Capture me, In my hometown...

[Chorus:]
King City, King, King City
Third Coast Representer, Mississippi, ssippi Land,
King City, King, King City,
Third Coast Represtenter, Mississippi ssippi Land,
300 My my, 300 my stompin' ground [x3]
King City, M-Town, Hometown Hero.

[Verse 2:]
Yeah, yeah, it's just Ciroc in the cooler,
Not a day off but I'm still Ferris Bueller.
Winners never lose so how dare you confuse us,
They quote what I spit like Confucius.
He say, She say rumors all day,
The rap game is high school and life's a hallway.
Like what click you in, the Beamer or the Benz,
The Bentley or the Lambo,
Like here we going again.
Don't sit at my table VIP I got this,
If you ain't poppin champagne after every game then don't pop shit. Homecoming queen, with my picture in her locket,
But I know what's up with her hands in my pockets.
(Money)
They love me cause my Swag is so Jockish,
Freshman year, sought a ring like I'm boxin'.
You voted most likely to never-ever top this,
I'm Michael Jordan; Dennis Rodman's... in my hometown.

[Chorus]

Of My world, Of my world, yeah, Of my world, Of My world, yeah...

Living Darfur - Mattafix

See the nation through the people's eyes,
See tears that flow like rivers from the skies.
Where it seems there are only borderlines
Where others turn and sigh,
You shall rise (x2)

There's disaster in your past
Boundaries in your path
What do you desire when lift you higher?
You don't have to be extraordinary, just forgiving
Those who never heard your cries,
You shall rise (x2)
And look toward the skies.
Where others fail, you prevail in time.
You shall rise.

(You may never know,
If you lay low, lay low) (x4)
You shall rise (x3)

Sooner or later we must try... Living
(You may never know,
If you lay low, lay low) (x4)

See the nation through the people's eyes,
See tears that flow like rivers from the skies.
Where it seems there are only borderlines
Where others turn and sigh,
You shall rise (x4)

(You may never know,
If you lay low, lay low) [4x]

Frank Dellé - Coming Home

Wish I knew more about this artist but honestly there isn't a whole lot out there on him. At least his lyrics are difficult to find. Found this song in an obscure ski video on Youtube and fell in love.

[Verse 1:]
Cindy Lavinsky
Went to her school where the kids that she did meet
Did not treat her friendly
She in elementary
So when she went home, it was wrong evidently
So lonely and empty

Well, lookin' for love in a club got her drunk
Met a thug named Bud, got her pregnant with a son
Here he come
In a sub-division there's a couple engaged in a fuss
One of them grabs a gun {gun cocks}
In the street, all alone, there's a kid
Tryin' to wipe away the tears after what his momma did
There it is

[Samples The Beatles 'Elenor Rigby':]
"All the lonely people
Where do they all come from? "

[Verse 2:]
Penny Lavinsky
Adopted at three, a foster home's where he's livin'
His pockets are empty
So when he turns 16
He just ran away and then he moved to the city
And had a daughter named Lizzy

Well, in a mansion, in a room, on a bed
There's a girl so depressed
From the drugs and the stress
All the diamonds on her dress still can not relieve stress
That she faces from the world
Why these niggas offer it?
Evidence she's obsessed, but what she feels she can't express
All she want is happiness
But all she know is big success
Nothin' less

"All the lonely people
Where do they all come from? "

[Chorus:]
"I look at all the lonely people"
"I look at all the lonely people"
"I look at all the lonely people"
I see 'em, I see 'em, I see 'em, there they go

[Bridge:]
I know that you've been havin' a lonely day
All you gotta do, is find a way
Maybe in your dreams you can fly away
Away, away, away
I know that you've been havin' a lonely day
All you gotta do, is find a way
Maybe in your dreams you can fly away
Away, away, away

Blitzen Trapper Black River Killer

It was just a little while past the Sunset Strip
They found the girl?s body in an open pit
Her mouth was sewn shut, but her eyes were still wide
Gazing through the fog to the other side

They booked me on a whim and threw me deep in jail
With no bail, sitting silent on a rusty pail
Just gazing at the marks on the opposite wall
Remembering the music of my lover?s call

So you make no mistake
I know just what it takes
To pull a man?s soul back from heaven?s gates
I?ve been wandering in the dark about as long as sin
But they say it?s never too late to start again

Oh when, oh when
Will the spirit come a-callin' for my soul to send
Oh when, oh when
Will the keys to the kingdom be mine again?

It was dark as the grave, it was just about three
When the warden with his key came to set me free
They gave me five dollars and a secondhand suit
A pistol and a hat and a worn out flute

So I took a bus down to the Rio Grande
And I shot a man down on the edge of town
Then I stole me a horse and I rode it around
Til the sheriff pulled me in and sat me down

He said, you make no mistake

I know just what it takes
To pull a man?s soul back from heaven?s gates
I?ve been wandering in the dark about as long as sin
But they say it?s never too late to start again

Oh when, oh when
Will the spirit come a-callin' for my soul to send
Oh when, Oh when
Will the keys to the kingdom be mine again?

Well the sheriff let me go with a knife and a song
So I took the first train up to Oregon
And I killed the first man that I came upon
'Cause the devil works quick, you know it don?t take long

Then I went to the river for to take a swim
You know that black river water is as black as sin
And I washed myself clean as a newborn babe
And then I picked up a rock for to sharpen my blade

Oh when, oh when
Will the spirit come a calling for my soul to send
Oh when, oh when
Will the keys to the kingdom be mine again?
Oh when, oh when
Will that black river water wash me clean again
Oh when, oh when
Will the keys to the kingdom be mine again?

If I Die Young - The Band Perry & Dear Professor - Deans List

One of my favorite things about music is discovering how a sound or melody became popular and evolved. I wish I could devote more time to discovering samples, chords used, blah blah you get the point. People borrow ideas [sometimes borderline steal] and build upon them. As long as it's not just a ploy to make money for someone else's work I don't mind.

Anywho...

The first song is
It's The Deans List - Dear Professor [click here for DL]

Which used a sample from
If I Die Young - The Band Perry

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

Uh oh, uh oh

Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh and
Life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I've had, just enough time

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I've had, just enough time

And I'll be wearing white, when I come into your kingdom
I'm as green as the ring on my little, cold finger, I've
Never known the lovin' of a man
But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand, there's a
Boy here in town who says he'll love me forever,
Who would have thought forever could be severed by
The sharp knife of a short life, well,
I've had, just enough time

So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls
What I never did is done

A penny for my thoughts, oh no, I'll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

Uh oh (uh, oh)
The ballad of a dove (uh, oh)
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket
Save them for a time when you're really gonna need 'em, oh

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I've had, just enough time

So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls

CunninLynguists-Never Come Down

The CunninLynguists have, over the last year or so, quickly become one of my favorite hip hop groups. They are one of those groups that you just keep going back to. Their newest release, Oneirology, could be one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time. But more on that later. I almost am a little angry that I was only able to post the music video because I feel a song like this is better enjoyed using your own imagination. Anyways... Enough babbling. Enjoy.

I can't stop

I can't stop feeling high
I'll never come down
I can't stop feeling high
I'll never come down

NATTI:
Too high, slobbering
Too much pot in the brownie pan
Got me baked faster than the brownies, man
Have you ever been high from the inside out
On the lawn in my boxers like the insides out
Car jackin' care bear just ride out
In one of them cloud whips with the arm star chip
I'm so high, I hope you understand this shit
Jane was plain 'til I ate her, then she came too quick
Drink water while I'm rhymin' but I still can't spit
My mouth is pure cotton, like a t-shirt's coughing
The fake mens is then my brain is all rotten
Talking to myself with my neighbors all watchin'
But goin' in the house proves way too hard
When I fall in the front door and land in the backyard
Physics don't apply
Midgets in the sky
Skipping 'round my head, singin', "Negro, you so high"
Damn

I can't stop feeling high
I'll never come down
I can't stop feeling high
I'll never come down

DEACON:
Said I'm eye to eye with sky gods, besides Horace
Feeling like that white man singing in the chorus
How'd I grow to be the tallest tree in the forest
Without putting green in the shell like a tortoise
Huh? Rigor mortis
Higher than a lion's chin
If this was symphonies, I'm well fed with violins
If this a choir then, soprano octaves
In an opera where God lives
Look, I know I'm sounding like a liar but
The brownies was angel sex, got a nigga high as fuck
I smoke trees through all four seasons
But I'm like gas prices, high for no reason
Call it nurse, your boy's higher than Google Earth
And if I fell the impact will put me through the dirt
So let me zoom in, and get my zoom on
This weed's Neil Armstrong, I'm on the moon blown

I can't stop feeling high
I'll never come down
I can't stop feeling high
I'll never come down

I just wanted me some regular weed
With regular stems and regular seeds
'Cause this shit here, nigga
'Cause this shit here, nigga

I just wanted me some regular weed
With regular stems and regular seeds
'Cause this shit here, nigga
'Cause this shit here, nigga

Sirius - Fuck up

I've posted a lot of electronic "esque" type music lately so I decided to make something a little more melancholic. I found this song two years ago and really like how Kristian Rønning [a Norwegian rapper] puts his depression and feelings into the song so well. I was feeling a bit down when I originally found this song and still remember really relating to the song.

But that's what is so powerful about this song. It describes these feelings and almost challenges the listener to act, to improve what they can for a better life.

Or at least that's how I read into it :/

Lyrics:
Sunk so deep, you won't believe/
I can't proceed with this over me/
I know what you think when you say my name/
Talk about me like, oh he changed/
Now the dope is up his nose and i don't know if i can trust him/
And the smell of alcohol is too much for me to go hug him/
And it's hard to take, hard to watch, hard to look away/
But it's worse to be, in the middle of the shit trying to make up why to stay/
So i underestimate people/
Lie to myself, but I'm easy to see trough/
Use to be so proud, but take a look at these eyes, take a look at me now/
Everybody got a problem with me/
But then again, no one said life's easy/
Now i gotta watch where i put my feet/
Some don't even wanna look at me/
Every now and then i think back/
If i took another choice, where I'd be at/
Moma said I'm proud of you/
And my dad wanna help me, guide me trough/
And i DO wanna change/
but i keep coming back to the same old same/
snort a line, while i write a rhyme/
about quitting shit for a better life/
what the fuck is that, where's the discipline/
This tend to bring out the bitch in me/
And did i make this song for the sympathy?/
I don't know what it is, but I'm sick of it/

Look into my nephews eyes, i see myself/
back when i didn't care about nothing/
I'd rather be alone for now. figure out/
how to bring myself back down/
on the ground, on the ground/

'Cause now I'm flying higher than i ever could imagine/
And i was supposed to be scared of heights, like what happened?/
I guess we change, some for the better, some for the worse/
I'm stuck somewhere between em, it hurts/

It's dark at night, i miss the sunlight/
Miss saying things like, thanks I'm alright/
when you ask me, how I'm feeling/
well I'm happy, when I'm dreaming/
It's a whole 'nother world in my head/
when i close my eyes in my bed/
I make up places and people/
Replace myself if i need to/
Three little birds on my doorstep/
I see what he means when i go there/
so peaceful so quiet/
Alone, but self reliant/

I came to the point where i put the mic down, and said I'm done/
And with a life like this, you might just feel, like putting steel on your tongue/
Swear to god, seen suicides, i knew people who took their own/
So rest in peace to the people i knew, 'cause i know you can hear my song/
And i will be strong for me AND you/
Do what they tell me that i can't do/
In all your names, I'mma fight/
So i walk on stage for you tonight/
So when the lights hit me, i'mma shine for you/
Bottom line, I'm alive for you/
They gotta kill me to make us meet again/
'cause i ain't never giving up, i ain't leaving yet/
It's not for me no more, it's for all of us/
see you when i see you,i love you all/

Tycho - Dictaphone's Lament

I like to call this type of music "mood setting music," because listening to this song always changes my mood. It's hard to explain exactly what it makes me feel like but it definitely deserves to be passed on [ imo :) ]

Enjoy.

Skrillex - First Of The Year (Equinox)

I usually don't like the really "wompy" songs, and I know that Skrillex is pretty popular but this song has done nothing but grow on me. Enjoy :D

Arrested Development - "Since The Last Time"

A truly feel ghood summer song!

It's been ten years since we rocked stages
together, we covered bases together and whether
we all agreed or not 20/20 vision is hindsight, and
now we got that so we done got back.
Some of our soldiers have fallen so many years of toiling
touring tears falling naw pouring jaded from the industries
jabs a lil slower like Muhammad Ali but still we able to last so
we go in the studio it felt new but yet in a good way it felt old
routines we did came back so lucid we was boosted we juiced it
and came up with some tracks that's stupid and people responded
to em, heads on the blocks wit locks and baggie jeans the whole
scene was fond to em and how we got the labels kissin'
our hind parts we desired art and never sold out for the high chart positions

(Chorus)
I have been a thousand places
Seen a million faces
Since the last time

I have been a thousand places
Seen a million faces
Since the last time

Since the last time...
Many rap groups attempt to latch to the popular cultures statutes and thus they detach their roots from the soil that kept them
loose and made what they delivered so true There's a desert waste land of past artists that's so cruel feeling thrown out like
woody in toy story two and yo we felt that but let me tell you Satan he dealt that I think it's time to give him his deck back.

(Repeat Chorus)

Led Zeppelin Vs. Gramatik - Stairway To Hip-Hop Heaven

A great spin on a classic song. I know his videos have been removed in the past due to copyright issues with the sample but if this video is "unavailable" just give her a search and you should find it. :D

Tobacco Road - Common Market

I guess it has been a minute
And the south paw aint felt right without the pen in it
Sent for incentive and sittin’ submissive
But nothin’ bringin’ Jimmy back, you know that – prayin’ a waste of wishes
I made a decision – carry on, honor lives in the deed
Though the muse moves in decreased speed
Due to the wait, my dude lose patience with me?
Favor the Blue, you knew what I was trainin’ to be
I came for the takin’ of something they aint seen back in Henry
The proximity to Knox’s Fort’s not given any but
Cause to envy – Lord when have we fought the enemy
With more that afforded, we’re stormin’ the port of entry
In memory of the James Clan, my symphony of the
Flames fan to conquer, when the song come on – pay the band
Send a percentage back, Oldham owed, factor in estate tax
Or waive it if it goes to pave Tobacco Road

Some memories I kept
Others left, others I must have let go to protect
Hold a check for the row I set – ready? No, not yet
Well lemme know and I’ll return to collect
They never found me ‘cause Valerie’s boy had a different rhythm to play to
And he gon’ use his tools to break through
Mindful of the nights in that state, who they say life is what you make it
When really life is what makes you

Payin’ homage, with a big nod to Aubrey
The schools failed me, thank God the farm taught me
The value of a calloused hand, how to work and plow this land
How even a modest crop will make your pop the proudest man
Harvest of a thousand fans, sans a gram of seeds broadcast
Through loud speakers, in the weeds I was born last
Profound effect on my volume, plus the readiness to fill it
In the field you should hear what they call ‘em
Regardless I should have spent another year on the bottom tier
Instead of trynna dodge what it was I thought got ‘em here
89 the number, 84 lumber – another summer
Fightin’ for cash to mash on the likening
Of cycles I’ve seen – those not keen on college
Lost direction or went to be correctional officers
No opportunity was offered us, I had my sights on
Being gone ‘fore they cut the lights on, Ryan’s song
Right or wrong, tie it tighter, I’m tired of buying into
Guidance gone awry, my father fought it with firearms and
Died in the trauma the violence spawned a child of drama
No wonder he’s prone to wander, knowin’ his home is haunted
Prayin’ that over yonder they still know
How much I love ‘em I just had to go, had it with the status quo
They’re askin’ me if I’ll be back when I’m old
In fact, no – these are my last tracks along Tobacco Road

But I’ll forever call it home
And I feel it whenever I call home (X4)
