Santana (ft. Citizen Cope) - Sideways

Thirteen Senses - Into The Fire

Wu-Tang Clan - Da Mystery Of Chessboxin'

Wu-Tang Clan - Da Mystery Of Chessboxin' Official Video
From their debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).
Released at November 9, 1993.

Lyrics:
[Wu-Tang movie dialogue]
The game of chess, is like a swordfight
You must think first, before you move
Toad style is immensely strong, and immune to nearly any weapon
When it's properly used, it's almost invincible

[Verse One: U-God]
Raw I'm gonna give it to you, with no trivia
Raw like cocaine straight from Bolivia
My hip-hop will rock and shock the nation
like the Emancipation Proclamation
Weak MC's approach with slang that's dead
you might as well run into the wall and bang your head
I'm pushin' force, my force your doubtin'
I'm makin' devils cower to the Caucus Mountains

[Verse Two: Inspectah Deck]
Well I'm a sire, I set the microphone on fire
Rap styles vary, and carry like Mariah
I come from the Shaolin slum, and the isle I'm from
is coming through with nuff niggas and nuff guns
so if you wanna come sweating, stressing, contesting
you'll catch a sharp sword to the midsection
Don't talk the talk, if you can't walk the walk
Phony niggas are outlined in chalk
A man vexed, is what the projects made me
Rebel to the grain there's no way to barricade me
Steamrolling niggas like a eighteen wheeler
with the drunk driver driving, there's no surviving

[Verse Three: Raekwon the Chef]
Rough like Timberland wear, yeah
Me and the Clan, and you're the Landcruisers out there
Peace to all the crooks, all the niggas with bad looks
Bald heads, braids, blow this hook
We got chrome tecs, nickel plated macs
Black axe, drug dealing styles in phat stacks
I've only been a good nigga for a minute though
'cause I got to get my props, and win it you
I got beef with commercial-ass niggas with gold teeth
lampin in a Lexus eating beef
Straight up and down don't even bother
I got forty niggas up in here now, who kill niggas fathers

[Chorus: Method Man]
My peoples are you with me, where you at?
In the front, in the back killer-bees on attack
my people are you with me, where you at?
Smoking meth hitting cats on the block with the gats

[Verse Four: Ol' Dirty Bastard]
Here I go, deep type flow
Jacque Cousteau could never get this low..
I'm cherry bombing shits... BOOM
Just warming up a little bit, vroom vroom
Rappinin is what's happening
Keep the pockets stacked and then, hands clapping and
At the party when I move my body
Gotta get up, and be somebody!
Grab the microphone go straight to the phone
DUH-DUH-DUH...enter the Wu-Tang zone
Sure enough when I rock that stuff
Guff puff? I'm gonna catch your bluff tough
rough, kicking rhymes like Jim Kelly
or Alex Haley I'm a Mi-..Beetle Bailey rhymes
coming raw style, hardcore
Niggas be coming to the hip-hop store
Coming to buy grocery from me
Trying to be a hip-hop MC
The law, in order to enter the Wu-Tang
You must bring the Ol' Dirty Bastard type slang
Represent the GZA, Abbott, RZA, Shaquan, Inspectah Deck
Dirty Hoe getting low with his flow
Introducing, the Ghost..face.. Killer!!
No one could get iller

[Chorus]

[Verse Five: Ghostface Killah]
Speaking of the devil psych, no it's the God, get the shit right
Mega trife, and you're I killed you in a past life
On the mic while you was kicking that fast shit
You reneged tried again, and got blasted
Half mastered ass style mad ruff task
When I struck I had on Timbs and a black mask
Remember that shit? I know you don't remember jack
That night yo I was hitting like a spiked bat
and then you thought I was bugged out, and crazy
strapped for nonsense, after me became lazy
yo, nobody budge while I shot slugs
Never shot thugs, I'm running with thugs that flood mugs
So grab your eight plus one, start flipping and tripping
Niggas is jetting I'm licking off son

(Wu, Tang, Wu, Tang, Wu, Tang, Wu, Tang!!!!)

[Verse Six: Masta Killa]
Homicide's illegal and death is the penalty
What justifies the homicide, when he dies?
In his own iniquity it's the
Master of the Mantis Rapture coming at you
We have an APB on an MC Killer
Looks like the work of a Master
Evidence indicates that's it's stature
Merciless like a terrorist hard to capture
The flow, changes like a chameleon
Plays like a friend and stabs you like a dagger
This technique attacks the immune system
Disguised like a lie paralyzing the victim
You scream as it enters your bloodstream
Erupts your brain from the pain these thoughts contain
Moving on a nigga with the speed of a centipede
and injure - ANY MOTHERFUCKING CONTENDER

[Chorus]

A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders

A lot could be said about Tribe Called Quest & this album. I've had it on my ipod for over a year now and I'm still learning new stuff about the outfit.

The listener is guided through the program by a robotic voiced woman played by actress Laura Dern. As this voice tells the listener at the end of "Award Tour", the meaning of the album's title derives from a figure that "seven times out of ten, we listen to our music at night", hence the "Midnight", and that the word maraud means to loot, and A Tribe Called Quest are "maraud[ing] for ears". One of the group members, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, described the album's name this way: "We decided to call the album 'Midnight Marauders' because A Tribe Called Quest are like sound thieves looting for your ears." [Wikipedia]

The album artwork of Midnight Marauders was the source of inspiration for a collection of products released by the Air Jordan Brand that includes t-shirts and sneakers and was released February 2009. The sneakers, officially called Air Jordan I Retro High Strap, were often called Midnight Marauders Air Jordan I or A Tribe Called Quest Air Jordan I by customers and featured a design of red, green and black. Two of the t-shirt designs include a wing design and a design mimicking the album cover of Midnight Marauders.
It also served as inspiration for a t-shirt by Munich-based clothing company Beastin', showing the members of the original 1992 Dream Team arranged in the same way as on the Midnight Marauders cover.[Wikipedia]

In my opinion this album is best enjoyed front to back. So I'd suggest supporting the group and plunking down the 10 or some on dollars for the album. Enjoy :)

Kid Cudi - Man On the Moon - The End of Day

I know Kid Cudi is pretty popular and I know that a lot of folks in the community view him as another one of those mainstream artists alongside Drake and Lil Wayne. But I've always really liked Kid Cudi.

His first album, Man On the Moon - The End of Day has to be one of my favorites. This was his first full length release (he had some mixtapes released before hand) and man is it good.

While many hip hop albums like too take us down the path of vainity... Making sure to remind us how well the creators are doing and never letting us forget about their women, this album doesn't. An album in which Cudi reflects on events in his life and himself.

Like on the song, Soundtrack 2 My Life -

"Only things that calm me down, pussy and some Cali tree
And I get both, never truly satisfied
I am happy, that’s just the saddest lie "

Admitting to smoking weed is far from revolutionary or new in hip hop music. But the revelation that it's not making him happy might be.

Many critics say this album is a little to self deprecating and Cudi is just feeling sorry for himself. I'll actually grant them this. But what I like about it is we've all been there and we can all relate to feeling that way.

Kid Cudi addresses the self conflict that many of us encounter but may never face, at least in a public manner. I know when this album came out I could really relate and I'm sure a lot of others may feel the same way.

Plus, the production isn't bad either.

While I didn't love his newest album, I definitely think this album will be something he's remembered by and it just may end up being the best material he ever puts out. But I think I'd be okay with that.

Enjoy.

BADBADNOTGOOD - TITLE THEME / SARIA'S SONG / SONG OF STORMS

BADBADNOTGOOD, also abbreviated BBNG is a trio band from Toronto,Canada, a band fused with Jazz and multiple genres mainly Hip-Hop. I have kind of fallen in love with these guys. Here is a song in which they cover some songs from arguably one of the greatest games of all time, Zelda Ocarina of Time.

Why a G6?

The duo known as the White Panda are wizards at mashups. There is a method to their madness, as the group is known catalog sounds and mix them later in a very particular manner. Whatever they're doing... It's working.

Crank your volume up and don't forget that it's a free download :)

Can't believe I haven't posted this one yet!

*** Reading over these lyrics, I've decided, there are a lot of flaws but I don't know a lot of the correct words either haha.***

Now you dun heard a lot of talk about me and my niggaz
Them outlaw world-wide my figures.
From triumph to tragedy,
To right back on top the niggaz still mad at me.

Man dats what my nigga got shot for,

See the darkness see the light he wanna feel it
Misery loves pumpin me
And that's the real shit
But in 2005 im on some ill shit
Four niggaz sneak upon my and peel this.
I'm takin a stand when i get in home killa, like them niggaz in pakistan
It's simple, gotta git em fore' i die like the old west see how we low tex da ride.

[Chorus:]
I know mama, you did your best at raisin' me.
Now your baby dun became a G.
When i'm out in them streets
the only one that got me is me.
I keep my hand upon my heat.
Cause you know mama,
you didn't raise no bitch
so if a nigga wanna get at me
I be out in them streets, my thang cocked
Cause really all I got in the game everyday is me
Real talk.

Everyday is a new challenge
I'm a savage in my new balance
A lot of rappers but not enough raw talent
Blame the machine but fuck it i'm a hustla bitch
So we start our own label sellin' bricks lajit
Power to the people
A lot of power in my pencil
We da hope for the hopeless
The voice for the voiceless
Outlaw soliers, we still in the game
Years later last members fuckin feelin the same.
Straight from the heart
makin em walk
Live for the day dont wait for tomorrow
Hatas gettin they wrong
I seen tha streets rap
Rounda tough with some niggaz
I seen [?] put religion in the roughs of some niggaz.
They say gansgtaz dont live that long
Too many turn-coals
Thats fucked up puttin cuffs on your folks
Coincidental the outlawz instrumental
And raisin a thug nation we influential

Cause really all I got in the game everyday is me
Real talk.

Yea, My mother aint made no suppa
Raised in the gutta
I'm a made mutha fucka.
All I know is get paid motha fucka
All day motha fucka
One way or anotha
And aint no body no where that can stop me
Call me cachy you tennis im hockey
Mix a little bit of pocky-ocky with black rocky in my pocks you got me.
Real tall I never took a shall unless it was support

[Chorus:]
I know mama, you did your best at raisin' me.
Now your baby dun became a G.
When i'm out in them streets

I keep my hand upon my heat.
Cause you know mama,
you didn't raise no bitch
so if a nigga wanna get at me
I be out in them streets, my thang cocked
Cause really all I got in the game everyday is me
Real talk.

I know I've already made a few posts regarding this song and the various mixes... But I found this over on the hypemachine and hit repeat one too many times to not include here. Some Trip Hop

Bonobo - Noctuary

I know this song has been sampled in a hip hop song... But I can't place it. I've been sifting through my library and just can't seem to locate it... Google isn't helping too much either. If you know of it, speak up!

I try to not return to the same artists... But I like this song too much to exclude it from a trip hop post.

Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels

What the Hell, lol!

I wanted to be with you alone and talk about the weather
But traditions I can trace against the child in your face
Won't escape my attention
You keep your distance with a system of touch and gentle persuasion
I'm lost in admiration, could I need you this much
Oh, you're wasting my time, you're just, just, just wasting time

Something happens and I'm head over heels
I never find out till I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart
Don't, don't, don't throw it away (Throw it away...Throw it away...)

I made a fire and watching it burn (yeah) Thought of your future
With one foot in the past now just how long will it last
No, no, no, have you no ambitions, oh (What's the matter with...)
My mother and my brothers used to breathing clean air
(Nothing ever changes when you're acting your age)
And dreaming I'm a doctor
(Nothing gets done when you feel like a baby)
It's hard to be man when there's a gun in your hand.
(Nothing ever changes when you're acting your age) Oh, I feel so...

Something happens and I'm head over heels
I never find out till I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart
Don't, don't, don't throw it away

And this is my four leaf clover
I'm on the line, one open mind, this is my four leaf clover

(La la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la)
(La la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la)
(La la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la)
(La la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la)
(La la la la la, la la la la la) In my mind's eye (la la la la la la)
One little boy, one little man (La la la la la, la la la la la)
Funny how...TIME FLIES!!!

Danger Doom - Benzie Box

The last few posts have all been produced by Danger Mouse... What the Hell, let's keep the DM train rolling. Here is a song by Danger Doom, a group composed of Danger Mouse & MF Doom.

Danger produces.
MF spits.

Simple enough!

The album, "The Mouse and The Mask" samples music from various cartoons, namely from the Cartoon Network programming block Adult Swim.

[anyone pick out Cee-Lo?]

His name's Doom
They wonder just who is he
But don't worry
Believe me he'll get busy when it comes to...
Poetry he's got plenty la la la...
la la la la la la

Jump em in like jump rope
Double-Dutch then turn on the mic with a thumb stroke
Subtle touch, cuddle clutch, is this thing on?
Like the fling with Mrs King Kong, this spring gone
Sing a song of slap happy crappiness
He came to flow like it was strapped to his nappy chest
Surely I jest, the best on a wireless
Mic not an eye test, yet I digress
But why stress, try an remember when
Maybe bit the tender skinned babysitter Gwendlyn
The type ta hit and run and go tell a friend
Word to el muerto cucaracha exo-skeleton
He know, flow like inter-stellar wind
Tow a rap jinn by his toe and to hell again
Ahem! 1-2 check me too
Loose wreck, see through your Goose Neck EQ

Chorus

Ay! If I may interject?
Rap these days is like a pain up in the neck
Cornier and phonier than a play fight
Take two of these and don’t phone me on the late night
The beat won’t fail me
With more rhymes than times he wash his hands and feet daily
And all that kerosene ain’t cheap
Villain been deep since a teenage creep, peep
He always was a gentleman
And kept a pen and a pencil in his mental den
Right there next to where the Rolodex was
Before it turned up all burnt by his solar plexus
He don’t know his own strength
When he’s on the bone it’s like the microphone length.. and with
Ain’t it funky like dingy socks
Feel the full effect off cassette in your Benzi Box

Chorus

Common - Drivin' Me Wild ft. Lily Allen

It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down
It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down

It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down
No, it's not a mystery, it's everything

She was the type to watch Oprah and the Today Show
Be on the treadmill like OK Go
Had a body, a body that you can't pay fo'
That means she had some D's on her but they wasn't fake though

Had a drive for a drive for Rodeo
She spent pesos on those Lebeaus
Spin class at the gym, strip tease on a pole
She was so obsessed with her body and clothes

To every party she goes, tryin' hard to be toast
They say it's hard for a pimp but extra hard for these
Readin' Us and People Mag, tryna get the scoop
Chasin' a actor for a Bentley Coupe

She been through the ball player from the Clippers
Then came the pumps all thinkin' she number one
Where she was just a jumpoff
Doin' all she can for a man and a baby
Drivin' herself crazy like the astronaut lady

It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down
It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down

It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down
No, it's not a mystery, it's everything

He had paper since we was in, we was in high school
Pop was a doc, mom taught at my school
Lock with the rocks, in his ears he kept jewels
One of the Diddy types, the D-D-Dame Dash dudes

Pushed a Maserati Sport, readin' the Robb Report
Wanted to be Mike but he was never live at sports
Since golf was in he was on the drivin' course
To live the rap life is what he was strivin' for

Spendin' cash at the bar to get credit
Drinkin' Chaundon just because Big said it
They say Ye is but dude was big headed
Rocked the fur in the summer so somebody'd pet it

He had a fetish for shoes that's athletic
Pathetic on his MySpace page half naked
It's a shame what they do for fame and to be respected
Joe, you coulda got it if you never woulda stressed it

It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down
It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down

It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down
No, it's not a mystery, it's everything

They was one of them couples, people said they were the it
Unbreakable, like Bobby and Whit'
Or Ryan and Reese or Kimora and Russ
Relationships can be dead but look live to us

I guess we all been through it where we try too much
Losin' yourself and you're lyin' and stuff
Wishin' for the diamond cuffs, in search of a ring
Where love is not a mystery, it's everything, sing

It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down
It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down

It's this thing now that's drivin' me wild
I gotta see what's up before it gets me down
No, it's not a mystery, it's everything

Gets me down, gets me down
Gets me down, gets me down
Gets me down, gets me
No, it's not a mystery, it's everything

The Roots - How I Got Over

Chorus:
(Black Thought: uh, ha-huh. uh, ha-huh) Out on the streets (Yeah)
Where I grew up (ah-hah)
First thing they teach us: (uh)
Not to give a fuck (Yeah, C'mon baby)
That type of thinking can’t get you nowhere (Oh ??)
Someone has to care.

Verse 2:
How I got over
Where the people come apart
Don’t nobody care about cha
Only thing you got is God.
Out here in these streets
If you get down on your luck
You can stand up
With a hand down
But nobody give a fuck.
Out here in these streets
Every man is for himself
They Ain’t helpin’ noone else
It’s a hazard to your health.
Livin’ life in these cold streets.
(Hey) Whose worryin’ ‘bout cha babe
When you wiln’(?) out?
Runnin’ around in these streets.

Chorus:
Out on the streets
Where I grew up (How I got over)
First thing they teach us:
Not to give a fuck. (How I got over)
That type of thinking can’t get you nowhere (How I got over)
Someone has to care. (Ya)

Verse 2:
When you on the corners too much drama
Livin’ with the police right behind ja’
It's always more than a slight reminda
We livin’ in a war zone like Rwanda.
Before I go back to the heavenly fatha
Pray for me if it ain’t too much botha.
Whatever don’t break me or make me stronga
I feel like I can’t take too much longa.
It’s too much lyin’
And too much fryin’
I’m all cried out cause I grew up cryin’
They all got a sales pitch I ain’t buyin’
They tryin’ to convince me that I ain’t tryin’.
We uninspired
We unadmired
And tired and sick of being sick and tired.
A living in the hood where the shots are fired
We dyin’ to live, so to live we dyin’.
You just like I am.

Chorus:
Out on the streets (Uh)
Where I grew up (How I got over)
First thing they teach us:
Not to give a fuck. (How I got over)
That type of thinking can’t get you nowhere (Ya, somebody, somewhere)
Someone has to care. (Somebody’s gotta care)

Verse 3:
And I swear it isn't fair
In suspended animation
We ain't tryin' to go nowhere.
Out here in these streets
We're so young and all alone
We ain't even old enough to realize we're on our own.
Livin' life in these hard streets
Where it's like they lost their mind
Is there anyway to find?
are we runnin' out of time out here?
Listen, hey
Who's worryin' about cha babe
When you wiln'(?) out?
Runnin' 'round in these streets.

Chorus: x3
Out on the streets (Uh)
Where I grew up (How I got over)
First thing they teach us:
Not to give a fuck. (How I got over)
That type of thinking can’t get you nowhere (Ya, somebody, somewhere)
Someone has to...

Out on the streets
Where I grew up
First thing they teach us:
Not to give a fuck
That type of thinking can’t get you nowhere
Someone has to care.

Cunninlynguists - Oneirology

My favorite hip hop album of 2011 so far. It's not perfect. But I don't think any album is. Cunninlynguists take us on a journey exploring maybe some of our most personable moments, our dreams. Oneirology is in fact defined as the scientific study of dreams. And while a large portion of the album is devoted to the feeling and moods set upon by slumber... It also examines the desires, dark thoughts, and vulnerabilities of it's hosts as well. This is one of those few albums that is best enjoyed listening to front to back. The production value of Kno's beats here are top notch. Sometimes maybe even out shining the vocalists... Possibly my favorite track on the album is "Get Igorant." Which delves into why some people are kind of always "dreaming" in their own delusions.

[V1 - NATTI]

Do I gotta get ignant and show my pigment on the job?
slap the darkest part of my hands across jaws?
these days and times with jobs hard to find
you gotta work a salt mine or work an assault nine
most folks barely staying afloat through proper channels
and think the rich sit with black candles and slaughter mammals
and run the globe through mind control and designer sandles
but life’s a skinny bitch it’s a struggle to get a handle
I’m about to just break bad like Malcolm’s dad
be Meth Boy-R-Dee with a lab and a yellow cab
so I can get the white picket fence and yellow lab
that American dream makes me wake up and scream
it consists of old money buying shiny new things
that I’ma about to break as I’m creating a scene
you can use as an anthem for Kanye’s tantrums
cause I’m about a thumb and a finger away from snapping
dammit!

[V2 - DEACON]

I'm early everyday, never took a vacation
through mandatory overtime I always stayed patient
through all the pettie dramas i'm calmer than a sloth
but THE shit don't change like if Obama would've lost
I done worked my ass off for bout 20 leven years
and I'm usually far from anything that Heaven fears
but I'm feelin off kilter, nah I ain't bout to kill ya
but I am about to loosen up the filter
here's you...jerkin' off to Halle Berry on the shitter
then firing a nigga cause he checkin' on his twitter
you mad ‘cause ain't nobody taggin you in pictures?
well here's a good one of you taggin ya wife's sister
like that! I've been knowin' ways to fight back
Vimeo of you sayin you don't like blacks
clearly though, full HD and in stereo
ya network's got holes my dude, cheerio!

[V3 - DEACON]

Success is just a thought, yet it can push us to the edge
put in our heads at an early age like the pledge
give our allegiance, while you're at it give ya souls
won't tell ya till ya grown that all that glitters ain't gold
but we love to watch em race, love to watch em chase dreams
so dirty ain't a cycle that could make clean
got the athletes juicin, singers gettin naked
the rappers spendin' all they money before they even make it
actors scared to age shootin acid in they faces
slaves to the ratings every show is more tasteless
faithless as angels cuttin' wings from they scapula
to trade it all in and be Dracula?

[V4 - KNO]

Genocide in east Africa, but you watchin Battlestar Galactica
Fillin up the data in the back of your digital camera
Taking glamorous
Shots of your mammaries
Surrounded by Vanity Fair magazine
And stuffed animals, in a house your parents paid for
Built by hand on land people slaved for
Get ignorant, stay ignorant in fact get belligerent
If you feel my sentiment attack
Keep kicking and screaming for your sense of entitlement
Flip me off with the same hand you hold the Bible with
All that Botox, every cream, every vitamin
Can't cover up the ignorance thats inside of you
I wouldn't lie to you, it can't cover up the ignorance thats inside of you

I also love the album art. Done by Lois van Baarle

J-Walk - Soul Vibration

Don't know why... But I'm getting a Wu-Tang vibe from this gem. Can almost imagine GZA spitting over this one.

Hybrid - Disappear Here

Lot's of posts today. Hope it's not overwhelming. But I can't help but imagine taking but long open turns (while skiing, duh) listening to this song. Would be a great song for an edit that included a lot of interesting / big mountain terrain.

De La Soul- I Be Blowin'

Röyksopp - Happy Up Here

Quite possibly one of the happiest sounding songs I know. I also love Royksopp's song "Keyboard Milk."

Inspired Flight - We All Want To Fly

Jedi Mind Tricks - Saviorself

I have mixed feelings towards the Jedi Mind Tricks... Most of their work is actually pretty ghood. I genuinely loved their album Visions of Gandhi. However the group is highly opinionated, highly political, and highly religious. Which is okay. But not necessarily always my cup of tea. The group as some interesting things to say... But they do seem to have a finger on making great sounding songs.

feat. Killah Priest

[Vinnie Paz]
Yeah, I built with Alexander the Great
He told the Persians they should stay gone
Then he told me about the Oracle of Ammon
He gave me no clue, where it is
Man feared time, yet time feared the pyramids
He gave me more jewels, he told me that
Amenhotep was immortal, I can't overstand hieroglyph
So I called Killah Priest, and he taught me how to follow it
I walked through the Valley of the Kings
With a white robe, white rose and what I will brings
And your whole team Judas, my road thin, gold skin like Juicis
I speak the dialog of the dead, I practiced the same war tactics
In King Arthur's head, so let the swordsmen kill the beast
It's a Legacy of Blood, with Vinnie Paz and Killah Priest

[Chorus: Stoupe cuts up samples]
"The Sun Won't Come Out, unless the crowd start this
Cause if it was my choice, you all damned to darkness" - CL Smooth "Sun Won't Come Out"
"And on this burst, you'll gave work to the worst
Get the pen from the nurse, and hold the mic up first"
"The rhymes, the rhymes, rhymes on the alter
Burn them as a sacrifice"

[Killah Priest]
I paint flows with the feathers from the wings of angels
Red ink from saint blood, nigga, you ain't thug
Stare into the face of a king's mug
Crush grape, feel the wine jug, ill thoughts
Build from the mind of rhyme, rose, off the tongue like fine rugs
Let me walk you through this, for the clueless
I'm Shakespeare'ing, with grey earrings
Speak like Tiburians, write novels
Spit it like Aristotle, face half Pharoah
And half owl, I took the path of Cairo
Came back with the Dead Sea Gospel
Now known as the Dead Street Apostle
We shoot 'em feds, use them hollows
Bullets spread, til they meet Diablo
Stars in enlightment, Priest meet with Jedi Mind Tricks
Reach them climates, where you can't breath
Stay high off that dead weed, in the mind is where I plant seeds
To grow fruit, of king's so brute, of army troops
Mighty men in celestial suits
You need healing, my mic give you incredible boost
Where I use satellite vision, stare at my alphabetical soup
Plus I use the Big Dipper to take, more than one scoop, it's Priesthood

[Chorus: Stouple cuts up samples]
"Straight up, we serve justice
So if you can't be trusted, may you return where the dust is" -
Smif-N-Wessun
"The rhymes, the rhymes, rhymes on the alter
Burn them as a sacrifice"
"And on this burst, you'll gave work to the worst
Get the pen from the nurse, and hold the mic up first"
"The rhymes, the rhymes, rhymes on the alter
Burn them as a sacrifice"

[Vinnie Paz]
I studied element 1-15, with the Elohim
Saw the Canaanites, Sumerians, and the Philistines
This is street gospel, if you don't believe
In life on Mars, that mean the beats got you
You don't wanna see me and Killah Priest hostile
You don't wanna see, desert eag' heat pop you
This is Mothman Prophecy, walk back
To the sand of Iraq, and let the prophet breath
We turned all our water in the toxic seas
And walk in the wall with armour that I copped in the greece
Then I shoot the thieves, with a long arrow
Studied Imhotep, to be a strong Pharoah
It's a war when the God's spit
It's Allah, when I split the ice bergs, in the arctic
I don't care what the cause is
And I'mma ride for my fam, no matter what the cost is

[Outro: Vinnie Paz *Stoupe cuts samples to end*]
Yeah, Vinnie Paz, Killah Priest, yea
Priesthood, Maccabeez, yeah, Army of Pharoah
Aight? Yeah

The XX - Infinity

The slideshow's a bit corny. But the song, genuinely good. Enjoy.

After all the time
After you
Had you seen me with someone new
Hanging so high for your return
But the stillness is a burn

Had I seen it in your eyes
There'd have been no try after try
Your leaving had no goodbye
Had I just seen one in your eyes

I can't give it up
To someone elses touch
Because I care too much

Could you tell
I was left lost and lonely
Could you tell
Things ain't worked out my way

Wish the best for you
Wish the best for me
Wished for infinity
If that ain't me

Give it up
I can't give it up

I can't give it up
To someone elses touch
Because I care too much
Because I care too much

Give it up
I can't give it up

Glitch Mob - Animus Vox

Love this song so much. And anytime I can include a skiing video... You know I'm going to do it. Here is a trailer of a ski production company, Poor Boyz Production's movie "Revolver," from last year.

It is a shortened version of the song but I'll include the full track below it.

Also, the LJ Strenio Dub at 2:14 has to be one of my favorites of all time. Grab blunt and go big!

Saigon -- Too Long ft. Black Thought

(feat. Black Thought)

[Intro: Saigon]
When you feel like your life is getting stagnated
And you know it's time for a change, say...

[Chorus: DJ Corbett & Saigon]
I've been here for too long
I gotta find my way out now, Lord, tell me what's going on
I've been here for too long
Tired of reminding myself there's no right way to do wrong
I've been here for too long
I'm a make it out soon, I can do it, I just gotta be strong
I've been here for too long
'Cause I've been here for too long, come on!

[Speech: Saigon]
It's now or never
Can't stay in the same situation forever
Pfft... Gotta get it together

[Verse 1: Saigon]
My cousin gone from the slum, father was a bum (a bum)
He had a mother but he never felt she loved-ed him (loved-ed him)
People used to speculate was it because of them
That he grew up chewing more than just bubble gum
He used to like to bite his nails, even fight the gal
I used to tell him they gon' send yo ass right to jail
Pitching it hard, I never thought he'd listen to the God
When I would tell him not to be an addition to the yard
To my surprise, this nigga went to get a job
Now I be hearing him bragging 'bout his benefits and all
And I applaud whoever can climb out the hood
I hope and pray to Allah y'all can climb out for good
The hood is where the hate is at, I make it back
Just to bring some paper back, turn around, (rrrt!) make tracks
I got a kid, I'm a need a crib with the lawn
You can say what you want, nigga, I've been here for too...

[Chorus]

[Verse 2: Black Thought]
Uh, check it out
Yo, I'm too black and too strong and been here for too long
Never did it right 'cause all I knew was how to do wrong
My people telling me to cut it out like a coupon
And act like a new man instead of like a newborn
Sometimes what I grow on, is difficult to chew on
And everything your crew on, is different than what you on
I'm through with bullshitting with my trivial pursuit on
And sitting at a stop sign, time to get a move on, 'cause
Criminal minds with minimal time
On the meter, got to be on they continual grind
Trying to find hidden treasure like subliminal signs
And escape mental prison or a chemical bind
And I'm a stone, but a stone can't do it alone
'Cause the truth can set you down like two in the dome
And make it all fall apart like the ruins of Rome
Yo, I'm a changed man headed for home

[Chorus]

[Verse 3: Saigon]
I know this crackhead who says she gotta smoke nice rock
And if it's good, she'll bring your customers a measuring pot
Her family members used to beg her to stop, couldn't explain
How to cook cocaine had her head in a lock
You hear the beat with this repetetive knock, that's the same way
They used to tell her she was at the edge of the dot
One night she woke up butt-naked in a crack house
Not knowing what happened, the bitch must've blacked out
Nobody to ask about what had taken place
Now she on the Internet with dog nut up on her face
And she caught another case trying to break in her mother place
Everything going wrong, she know it's 'cause of the base
Said it was just a pipe dream to get her life clean
Even thought it might seem like the right thing
Basically I just told her that red means stop
Yellow means slow, then you can go when the light's green
(I dropped jewels on her) That was her last night on the glass pipe
(Right) After thirteen years, that's right
She said, recommend a rehab and I'm gone
I wanna get strong, she said, I've been here for too long...

I've been here for too long... [x3]

Nujabes - Feather

[Verse 1:]
Light As A Feather
When I'm Floatin Through
Readin Through The Daily News
Measuring The Hurt Within The Golden Rule,
Centimetres Of Ether I'm Heatin The Speaker
Motivational Teacher With Words That Burn People
Seeing The Headlines Lined With Discord
It's Either Genocide, All The Planet In Uproar
Never Good But Rules Of Paradise Are Never Nice
The Best Laid Plan Of Mice And Men Are Never Right
I'm Just A Vagabond With Flowers For Algernon
The Average Joe Who Knows What The Fuck Is Goin On
It's The Hope Of My Thoughts That I Travelled Upon
Fly Like An Arrow Of God Until I'm Gone

[Chorus:]
So I'm Driftin Away Like A Feather In Air
Lettin My Words Take Me Away From The Hurt And Despair
So I'm Keepin It Vertical Forever Elevator
Ridin The Escalator To The Somethin That Is Greater
So I'm Driftin Away Like A Feather In Air
Lettin My Soul Take Me Away From The Hurt And Despair
So I'm Keepin It Vertical Forever Elevator
Ridin The Escalator To The Somethin That Is Greater

[Verse 2:]
Taking Chances
Word Tap Dancing With Wolves
In An Ice Arena Out There, Deep In The Woods Of Arizona
The Sun Be High, Life's Ironic
Aint Tryin To Be Talib When I Write
Surreal Life I Paint It Vivid Habitat Crazy Insane
Watch The Propaganda 6 O'clock News That Are Saying
Cultures Clash For Black Folk And White Trash
They Revel In The Cyberspace That Might Crash
Dash To Millineum A Million Miles Of Runnin
At The Speed Of Now Back Don't Return Gunnin
Rambo Style Gunho Child Gunnin
Ammo Blao Two Times Loud Stunnin
Stunnin When I Hit Ya Lift You Off The Earth Like
Ayo Take You Right Back To Birth
And Niggaz Wonder Why They Might Wonder Why
This Shit Might Happen But It Does, They Go

[Chorus:]
Driftin Away Like A Feather In Air
Lettin My Words Take Me Away From The Hurt And Despair
So I'm Keepin It Vertical Forever Elevator
Ridin The Escalator To The Somethin That Is Greater
So I'm Driftin Away Like A Feather In Air
Lettin My Soul Take Me Away From The Hurt And Despair
So I'm Keepin It Vertical Forever Elevator
Ridin The Escalator To The Somethin That Is Greater

[Verse 3:]
Treat You Better Than Me
Because That's The Heavenly Key
To Unlock The Inner Strength
Where My Essence Will Be
It's The Knowledge Of Self
Understanding Of The Things Around Me
That Becomes The Wisdom That I Need
Living This Life To The Best Of My Ability
Channelling Energy To My Thoughts Into Your Symmetry
Remember Me Because My Clothes Remain Gold
I Got The Gift Of Gab Like Them Pimps In Kangols
It Never Ends I Keep It Rulin Like A Cypher
The First Caveman Bringin Fire
Innovating And Higher To Blast Mistakes I Raise The Stakes
It's Double Or Nothing In This Vaccuum-Less Space
I Will Survive,Divine The Time To Cry Fuck A Hold Or Hide I'm Alive With Pride
And I Drove The Chevy To The Levy
But The Levy Was Dry Singin "This Will Be The Day That I Die"

DUBSTEP GUNS

Sometimes I'll post melodic dubstep on here... And while this isn't necessarily a "song" it's a mix of elements of dubstep and some really neat / clever editing. Worth a watch.

And here is the song featured in the video. I like the less chaotic, less bro, dubstep songs. But I'll include it for anyone interested!

Miike Snow - Animal (Punks Jump Up remix)

Rappin 4 Tay - I'll Be Around

An upbeat hip hop song in which 4 Tay addresses relationships, education, and just life in general. I think it's too bad a lot of mainstream music glamorizes violence and drug abuse when there are gems like this. Ah well.

Things are gettin crucial you gotta exercise your mind
Or learn about life before you're left behind

(phone rings)
Lady: Ragtop records may I help you?
Fly: Can I speak to Fo?
Lady: I moment please he's around.
4 Tay: Yo wassup?
Fly: Wassup Fo? I know you finished that cut for the radio.
4 Tay: As a matter of fact Fly I just finished it baby boy don't worry
about nothin I'll be around.

(4 Tay)
Regardless if I'm chillin backstage or on tour
With my homie Young Fly even Al B. Sure
Never hesitate to call me whenever I'm done
Cause homie I'm real and I'm always true to my loved ones
Too many wakes and funerals full of tears
You say there's something on your mind well here I'm all ears
Cause nobody thinking about the funk that you're choosin it
A lot of my homies stuck in the pen for life for losin it
Call up your folks you keep thinkin about home
Recorder keeps a peep and there's a block on the phone
And all of this is enough to make a brother's nerves bad
Reminds me of a sitution that I once had
Spent that spent this endless relentless tremendous women on my jock
And don't nobody mindin business
He say she say throwin salt about it
And chooses to talk about you cause there's no one else to talk about
Talk about the show and the flow and all the clout
Then be real with yourself and talk about and turned it out
It's not hard to compete when his name is poppin
A scared man can never win that's why I stay clockin
Fools be huffin and puffin don't wanna see me about nothin I'm down
And if you ever need me Fly I'll be around

(chorus- sampled from the Spinners "I'll Be Around)
Whenever you call me I'll be there
Whenever you want me I'll be there
Whenever you need me I'll be there
I'll be around

(talking)
Cause I'll be around you know I love you boy

Life ain't based on peaches and cream
This new generation lost a whole lot of dreams
Future doctors, producers and mothers
The list goes on but now we killin our brothers
And if we killin our brothers that means we're killin our own kind
These kids is watchin now it goes to their mind
Rat tat a tat cause you got a gat
Then they want a gat you livin like that?
Moms ain't cookin she worked the week straight
If anything she's the one that deserves a hot plate
The ghetto the ghetto ain't nothin to dream about
Tryin to get out now that's somethin to think about
Fools might disagree but I'm a stay sucka free
Now I'm so black so strong they can't fade me
Blacks are blacks worst enemy there's still no remedy
You got me for a grip do you call yourself kin of me?
Jealousy envy I see it in your eyes
Tell me what's wrong with seeing a black man rise
I keep it funky it's pretty hard to miss it now is it explicit
A message for the mind and the moral of statistics
So I'm doin what we call a roll call
Talkin about the ones who won't rap then take a downfall
I spit the street life and then I go underground
You silly it's called versatility and I'll be around

(chorus)

(Talking)
Yeah all you bustas yeah I was down but I'll be around

Things are gettin crucial you gotta exercise your mind
Or learn about life before you're left behind
But how you gonna get it right when you're not doin right
When you get mad all you want is a gunfight
This tension causes a gang of madness
Now you want funk that results to sadness
Sadness results to a lot of revenge
And you're so called friends really ain't you're friends
So how do you know who you're able to trust
If you think about the past look what happened to us
I never trust no one I only trust myself
Or I would've been a victim like everyone else
In friendship or hardship whenever you need me
Just give me a call G I won't deceive thee
These fools be shakin best believe they're fakin
Just tryin to get a grip of all the money you're makin
This ain't race a mind is a terrible thing to waste
I drop the rap and J drops the bass
To the flow cause ain't nobody get with Fo
I'm a down young brother comin straight outta Frisco
Droppin a message out of love to your town
Love your brothers and sisters and I'll be around

(chorus)

Soul Position - No Excuse For Lovin

Real gem here. This album [ 8 million stories ] received the oh so elusive "10/10" on rap reviews.

The song explores a relationship between a young mother and a stranger with mixed intentions.

[Verse]
He liked to keep his woman looking nice
And tried to pay her phone bill but she turned him down twice
Even though her life wasn't sunny
She felt him she didn't know him well enough to take his money
Instead, she recommended quiet dinner
Maybe next weekend and she could find a babysitter
Her daughter was three and she was twenty-one
With, dreams of marriage and having a son
But most times she felt like she'd never find love
So she drank away the pain in blood stained night clubs
And when home with men that acted like thugs
Addicted to the night life, like drugs
But regrets of the morning after always caught her
Waking up with men unfamiliar to her daughter
Even though they gave her an escape from lonely days
She never felt better than when they parted ways
[Chorus]
Oh there's no.. excuse for loving..
[Inaudible]
[Verse]
"Nothing special," she thought when his path crossed her mind
He could never be the one, just, occupy her time
And fill the lonely days that'd become so basic
Since her heart was torn from the broken off engagement
Two years ago and three states away
But by the look in her brown eyes you would've thought it happened yesterday
Now this new with intention to impress
Bought her tennis shoes and a brand new summer dress
If you could see the smile on her face
And how it washed away the work week's bitter taste
Plus this was the week of her born day
The sun ray in a life of all work and no play
He said he wanted her to spend it with him
But, she said she'd already committed to her friends
He denied her invitation to come along
And told her to call when she got home
[Chorus]
[Verse]
She pulled into the parking lot
Startled when she saw him standing right behind her in the dark
Demanding she tell him who she slept with today
Smelling the liquor on his breath she began to walk away
He grabbed her by throat yanked off the gold chain
And almost smiled, satisfied at her pain
He though of this her reward for being unfaithful
Lifted from her feet tears roll down her cheek
And terrified, she closed her eyes
While the storm made it impossible to hear her cries
He knew this, and struck with a clenched fist
And told her he wasn't stupid
She's now pinned to the ground
With his hand on her mouth to muffle the sounds
Knee planted in her chest until breathing hurt
He said she forced him to take back his tennis skirt
Much stronger she offered very little resistance
To him taking back the clothes that he'd given
Then he cocked back his fist for one last blow
And left her in the parking lot knocked out cold

Living Legends - Remember Who You Are

Eligh:

To the end of the road and back
Me and my friend came in
Shit gets odd when you live in sin
Knock on the backdoor let me in
Im a raging buffalo flack
Rowin' rider leather saddle
Ready for battling any instinct
Brought myself back to an infant
So I can leave that proper imprint, imprint is so fly
So different and so shy everybody gifted but so dry
Im trying to bring that rain to roll that thought to get you by
We high off life in the best way
Transitioning over the air waves
Right in front of your eyes we best play over two fifteens
Our essays score within you teens that press play
My dooms been cocooned
And now bleeds throughout my resume
Reservoir dog barking in the back lot
Trying get unchained and hop the fence
Bite that chain and command
To get to that higher plain of consciousness
Consequence of stagnation
Sit and rot in damnation
What is a man without some change
Bum in the street wit himself to blame
Empty pockets, empty brain
Im sick with God
My midi man
Forever eyes of simple plan

Chorus:

A simple plan for life is change find yourself the nicest range, strange
Then you see the light change
Can you find the right lane
On a bright day
A simple plan for life is change find yourself the nicest range, strange
Then you see the light change
Can you find the right lane
On a bright day

The Grouch:

And as I write to this tune my baby’s five months growing in the womb
There’s a population boom going on
There’s a planetary shift you can hear it in this song
They try to heal it then cut it, heal it then cut it, heal it then cut it don’t cut it again
If you feel it then love it, if you feel it then love it, if you feel it love it my friend
Its right in front of us each and every one of us
Freedom or death yes the two are antonymous
Symphonic jus hearin good news
I keep my ears open and steer to the moon
I know theres more than hope when I put out the feelers
We all want the same thing when we’re bein our realist
Collective consciousness lets form a village
Then spread good feelings till there aint no more killers
And I apologize if I didn’t always rise to occasion
Had to come of age and apply my knowledge to my personal experiences
If I didn’t I could’ve died in all seriousness
We’ve come far y’all
As a person, as a people, as a world
Its time to raise the bar
Its not hard just remember who you are,
Its not hard just remember

Chorus:

A simple plan for life is change find yourself the nicest range, strange
Can you see the light
Can you find the right lane
On a bright(day)
A simple plan for life is change find yourself the nicest range, strange
Can you see the light
Can you find the right lane
On a bright(day)

Music that Sucks... But Doesn't

Songs from albums that didn't do so well... But I like em anyways. I think it's safe to call these guilty pleasures.

Gotye- Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra)

Amplive - Video Tapez (Ft. Del The Funky Homosapien)

MOAR HIP HOP REIGHT MEOW!.

This song has been a long time favorite of mine. I was introduced to this song via a ski video (teaser / trailer for a movie called Slamina by 4bi9.) I'll post both the ski video and the full length song below.

Also, some of you may recognize the name Amplive... Or maybe not. But he is part of the duo also known as ZION I.

[Chorus] 2x
When I'm at
The Pearly Gates
This'll be on
My videotape

[Verse 1 - Del]
Flashlights report the lies
Just like life flash before your eyes
Touch right
Through to the soul
Illusions exposed
Right here on a reel
In the theater of real occurence
Your in a box with the top popped open
Like the soldiers in a trojan
Unexpected
One direction
Can't go both ways
That's what the pope say
Every known play in your soundtrack
Is based around fact
How you get down and act
The end of the cinema
Into the darkness
The usher escort ya to ya fortune
Morphin' into the final solution
Might be gruesome
Depending on your contribution
Your vision gets clear and translucent
Witnessing your own video revolution

[Chorus]

[Verse 2 - Del]
iPictures moving fast
Quicktime
Format more than I ask
The big time
Transmit the past
And it's a glance
Here on a reel in the theater of real appearance
I'm in a place where the space makes
Way for wars like Obi-Wan and Vader
Play for a private screening
I've been dreaming
That's what my mind thinks
All my hygiene's broadcasted
It's trapped with my issues
And whatever script i choose
Sound is magnified, amplified
Forcing the subject discovering a new adjustment
Something for my understanding
It might be expanding
Depending on the programming
I spot my ways of abandon
Witnessing my own parade on the planet

[Chorus]

Nas & Damian Marley - Tribes At War

Loads of hip hop today!

[Chorus 1 - Jr. Gong x2]
Tribal war
We nuh want no more a dat
Every man deserve to earn
And every child deserve to learn, now

Tribal war
A nuh dat we a defend
Every man deserve a turn
Like a flame deserve to burn

[Verse 1 - Nas]
Man what happened to us?
Geographically they moved us
From africa
We was once happiness pursuers
Now we back stabbing, combative and abusive
The african and arab go at it they most muslim
Used to be moving in unison
Disputes would end
Bounty hunters and grape street get cool again
Some standard housing
Got the young running rampant
Wilding, for a phantom
He can style in
Mask on his face
Grabbing his luger
Saying, 'gnobody move or I'll shoot ya'
Man you're expiring
Catch 25 and he does it like a man
He sides with black,
White pride and mexican
Survive the best he can
Strap a shank to his thigh
Why do we all collide?
Why do the young die?
Extortion, murder and burglary
Tattoos his chest
Says his enemies don't deserve to breathe

[Chorus 2 - Jr. Gong x2]
Tribal war
We nuh want no more a dat
Everyone deserve to earn
And every child deserve to learn, lord

Tribal war
A nuh dat we a defend
Each and every man deserve a turn
Like a flame deserve to burn

[Verse 2 - K'Naan]
I drink poison
Then I vomit diamonds
I gave you mandela, black dalai lamas
I gave you music
You enthused in my kindness
So how dare you reduce me to donny imus
Timeless in case we never been acquainted
Flyness who made it
It gets duplicated
Mindless violence
Well let me try to paint it
Here's the 5 steps
In hopes to explain it
One!
Its me and my nation against the world
Two!
Then me and my clan against the nation
Three!
Then me and my fam' against the clan
Four!
Then me and my brother we no hesitation
Uh!
Go against the fam' until they cave in
Five!
Now who's left in this deadly equation?
That's right, it's me against my brother
Then we point a kalashnikov
And kill one another

[Chorus 3 - Jr. Gong x2]
Tribal war
We nuh want no more a dat
Everyone deserve to earn
And every child deserve to learn

Tribal war
A nuh dat we a defend
Every man deserve a turn
Like a flame deserve to burn

[Verse 3 - Jr. Gong]
Man a war tribal
Over colors
Over money, over land, and over oil, and over god
And over idols, and even lovers
Over breakfast, over dinner, over suppers
Over jungle, over rema, over buckers
Over brooklyn, over queens, and over rutgers
Over red, and over blue, and over chuckers
Over red and over blue and under covers
Tribal trouble
The drive by s double
Cause the youth dem nah go war
And go fight with knuckle
The two sides scuffle
Vietnam nah go a war
With no more kung fu nun chuckle
Missile and shuttle
Huh
And the queen of england and uncle sam
Dem a flex dem muscle
The tribal hustle
Blood diamond poodle
Survival struggle

[Chorus 4 - Jr. Gong x2]
Tribal war
We nuh want no more a dat
Everyone deserve to earn
Every child deserve to learn

Tribal war
A nuh dat we a defend
Each and every man deserve a turn
Like a flame deserve to burn
